M.Sc. in Material science and Engineering
Admissions to the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Material Science & Engineering, follows the protocol and requirements for admissions to Tel Aviv University. All details are listed here in the handbook: TAKANON.
Students applying must have:
- A B.Sc. degree in Engineering or exact sciences from a recognized institution of higher education
- A minimum weighted GPA of 80. The minimum weighted average can vary from year to year and can depend on the background of the student and their knowledge base.
- Class ranking: the student must provide a certificate of their class ranking in the relevant department where they completed their undergraduate studies
*the minimum required for admission may vary from one year to another, and depends on the candidate’s knowledge base, background of undergraduate studies, and a high relative placement in his undergraduate class*
In general, acceptance of studies is for a research track unless the student is part-time and then they can choose to complete the project track (without a thesis). Students must find an advisor prior to arrival to studies and no later than after semester 1 of studies is completed.
An academic coordinator has been appointed for the MSc program in the Materials Science and Engineering Department. All questions concerning academic contents, admission requirements, required supplementary studies, approval of supervisors and examiners for theses and final projects etc. should be addressed to the academic coordinator. In some cases, the approval of the Head of the Department is also required.
Students who do not fulfill the above requirement for application:
Students applying who do not have the above GPA, or are coming from other tracks (not electrical engineering), might be accepted to the Supplementary Stage (see details on curriculum tab) where they will need to take supplementary courses in the Department of Material Science & Engineering and/or the School of Electrical Engineering. They must complete those courses with a minimum of 70 GPA and a weighted combined average of 80.
