Prof. Amram Eshel’s main research interests are in the area of plant physiological ecology, especially as related to mineral nutrition and water relations. A special aspect of this research is the resistance of plants to salinity stress. This was the basis for the initiative for developing salt-resistant desert plants as an alternative source of biomass for energy production. He has been working on this project together with colleagues and students for the last 15 years.
