Dr. Ilit Oppenheim, Director of the Institute

Ilit Oppenheim is the director of the Shlomo Shemelzer Institute for Smart Transportation at Tel Aviv University. At the same time, she represents Ben-Gurion University of the Negev as a partner researcher in the RESIST project as part of the EU's Horizon2020 program. As part of her post-doctorate, she was involved in the development of a two-way graphic communication language in military applications. Elit served as the director of the Living Laboratory for Smart Transportation in Ashdod Municipality. She also served as a senior researcher at the Ran Naor Institute (Green Light), where she dealt with issues such as technologies and applications to increase road safety and reduce driver distraction. Ilit has a B.Sc. in Aeronautical Engineering from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, M.Sc and Ph.D. in Human Factors Engineering - Industrial and Management Engineering from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Before her academic career, she served as a quality director in high-tech companies (Alvarion, Azimut Technologies, and Broadlight). Ilit has a unique experience that combines engineering, management, and research, with an emphasis on models of human factor behavior and personalization in different contexts.
