Energix will invest 50 million NIS in the establishment of a New Innovation Center!
The Faculty of Engineering at Tel Aviv University and Energix have announced the establishment of a new innovation center in the field of Energy Tech, with an investment of 50 million NIS over the next five years. The center, to be established on the university campus, is expected to serve as a national infrastructure for advancing research, development, and implementation of innovative energy technologies, while strengthening collaboration between academia, industry, and the entrepreneurial community.
The center will feature an industrial-scale laboratory that will enable researchers, companies, and startups to test and validate hardware and software technologies at early stages under real-world electricity grid conditions - a unique capability designed to accelerate the transition from academic development to commercial implementation. Alongside the laboratory, an innovation hub will provide access to advanced infrastructure, professional guidance, and support for entrepreneurs and companies operating in the Energy Tech sector.
As part of the collaboration, Energix will also invest 5 million NIS in research grants for research groups at Tel Aviv University, as well as more than 1 million NIS in upgrading the university’s student energy laboratory with advanced research equipment. These investments will strengthen research, enhance the hands-on training of the next generation of engineers, and promote the development of innovative technologies that will address the energy challenges of the future.
Prof. Noam Eliaz, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Tel Aviv University, said: “The center will bridge the ‘valley of death’ between academic research and commercial products, significantly increase the number of Israeli energy technologies that reach international markets, and strengthen Israel’s position as a leader in developing solutions to the energy challenges of the future. Beyond that, I am proud that the Faculty of Engineering is pioneering the establishment of a commercially oriented technology center of national importance, physically located within the university itself.”
The establishment of the center marks a significant step in addressing the growing challenges surrounding electricity generation, supply, and management, and demonstrates the importance of connecting groundbreaking research, engineering innovation, and industry needs.
