Curriculum

Stages: there are two stages of study.

  1. Accumulative Studies: students working in the industry, and in parallel plan to complete an M.Sc. degree. They are admitted to the Accumulative Study (AS) Stage, which can last no longer than 3 academic years. After this time, the student is transferred to the Regular Studies (RS) Stage, where they can complete their requirement.
    1. Minimum GPA during AS stage: 70
    2. Student must accumulate a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 18 credit points.
    3. Take all mandatory departmental courses
    4. Passing of courses: no later than semester 4. All mandatory courses should be taken in the first year of the M.Sc.
    5. 25% of the courses must be taken in the status of “regular student”
  2. Regular (Full-time) studies: They are directly admitted to the Regular studies (RS) stage. Students must have a permanent supervisor guiding his research for the thesis.
  3. Supplementary Stage: A candidate whose GPA is lower than the required minimum (but not lower than 75), may be admitted in a provisional status for a period of one year. Those candidates can then be admitted as RS students pertaining they pass their supplementary courses.
    1. Students in this status must complete the department’s two mandatory courses with a minimum average of 70.

  1. Based on the criteria of knowledge base and undergraduate background, some candidates will be required to complete several undergraduate courses. Admission will be in a special status – supplementary studies.
  2. The supplementary program will be determined by the Head of the Departmental Committee for M.Sc. Studies, based on the candidate's knowledge base and undergraduate background. For more information, please see the M.Sc. Regulations. HERE
  3. Prerequisites for continuing to M.Sc. studies: completing each course with a grade of 75, and all courses with an average grade of 80. In addition, the students must meet any other requirements set by the Faculty.

 

Types of M.Sc. degrees in Industrial Engineering

  1. Academic M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering:
    1. Research Track:
      1. Completing courses with a minimum total of 24 credit points in accordance with the curriculum
      2. Writing a final thesis for a total of 12 credit points, in compliance with the Faculty’s regulations for advanced degrees (total of 36 credit points)
      3. Participation in a minimum of 14 departmental seminars
    2. Final Project track:
      1. Completing courses for a minimum total of 36 credit points in accordance with the curriculum
      2. A project for 3 credit points (total of 39 credit points)
      3. Participation in a minimum of 8 departmental seminars
  2. Academic M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management:
    1. Research track:
      1. Completing courses with a minimum total of 27 credit points, including 18 credits in Engineering and 9 credits in management, in accordance with the curriculum
      2. Writing a final thesis for a total of 12 credit points, in compliance with the Faculty’s regulations for advanced degrees (total of 39 credit points)
      3. Participation in a minimum of 14 departmental seminars
    2. Final Project Track:
      1. Completing courses for a minimum total of 38 credit points, including 26 credits in Engineering and 12 credits in management, in accordance with the curriculum
      2. A project for 3 credit points (total of 41 credit points)
      3. Participation in a minimum of 8 departmental seminars
  3. Combined academic degree: M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering & MBA from the School of Management
    1. Requirements for the M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering
      1. Completing courses with a minimum total of 18 credit points from the Industrial Engineering M.Sc. program *(With exemption of 6 credits points in the management cluster, students must complete the combined degree. Those who do not meet the requirements in both programs will be required to take more courses, as needed, to receive an M.Sc. degree in I.E. or I.E. and management as specified above.)*
      2. Writing a final thesis for a total of 12 credit points, in compliance with the Faculty’s regulations for advanced degrees (total of 36 credit points)
      3. Participation in a minimum of 14 departmental seminars
    2. Requirements for the MBA:
      1. Courses for 22 credit points, in accordance with the MBA curriculum
      2. With the exemption of 3 courses (6 credit points), students must complete both programs in the combined degree
